All About Abraham And Isaac

Genesis 17:19 (KJV) And God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him.

Imagine that you have been waiting years for a promise to be fulfilled, and patiently waiting for it to come to pass. As a matter of fact it has even been over a decade that you’ve been waiting. Despite the long wait time, you have been faithful and patient. You have stood the test of time waiting and believing in your Elohim delivering the promise he has made to you. This has been the case for Abraham and Sarah, who has waited patiently and with faith for the promise of Isaac.

The Heavenly Father promised Abraham that he was going to bless him with generations and nations that was as mush as the stars in the sky, and the sand of the desert. This pleased Abraham greatly because Sarah was barren and had not had children. So Abraham took a leap of faith and left his home in Ur to go forth from his fathers house into the wilderness as a declaration of faith in Yahweh. Every time Yahweh came to visit Abraham to declare a word to him, Abraham would have faith, believe and receive. Abraham would then go and worship and sacrifice on the alter to the Lord Yahweh. He did this every time the Lord Yahweh would come to him and bless him with a promise. After a long wait, even over a decade, the promise child was final born from Sarah. Because Isaac was born to Abraham in his old age and was his only son, Isaac was extremely important to him. As time went on and Abraham and Sarah enjoyed and loved their blessed son Isaac, the Lord came to test Abraham’s faith.

Genesis 22:1-4 (KJV) And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am.

And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.

And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him.

Then on the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off.

Even though this story is about Abraham and Isaac’s relationship, It cant be told with out recognizing Abraham and Yahweh’s relationship. Abraham and Yahweh have always had a close relationship with each other, which is why Abraham has always trusted in everything The Heavenly Father has always told him. The Heavenly Father knew that it didn’t mater what he requested of Abraham, he knew that Abraham would always do what he asked. But things were different when it came to Isaac. The Lord knew that Abraham had been waiting on Isaac for a very long time, and that Isaac was the fulfillment of not only a child but for generations to come. Most people loose sight of The Lord when the things they have been waiting for is finally given to them. They begin to loose sight of The Heavenly Father, who gives the gifts and blessings, and they look towards the gift itself and forget about the giver. This is why The Lord wanted to test Abraham, to see if he still trusted him through everything, or would he would withhold Issac. But Abraham did not hesitate, he got up early in the next day after being told to sacrifice Isaac and went up the mountains to obey what he was told. He even had to pray for three days just to find the location of where the alter would be. I guess your wondering; why would Abraham be willing to sacrifice his son so easily, especially after waiting so long to receive him as promised? Abraham understood how sovereign the Lord was, not only in his life but also over the entire world as well. Abraham knew and understood that the Lord would deliver on his promises no matter what. Even if he did not understand how it was going to come about, he knew that Isaac was the promised child and that future generations was going to come through him.
