What's The Meaning of The Parable Of The Lampstand...​​

Lets imagine for a second that you are out talking to your friend, or an acquaintance. You two are in deep conversation, laughing and having a good time talking about anything, like good friends do. You both begin to talk about the things you love to do, like your careers and hobbies. Your friend begins to go on and on about the things that they used to do, about their gifts and talents that they put down and never got back into. You begin to encourage your friend letting them know that they can still pick their talent back up and thrive if they want to. Now, after imagining this scenario lets look back at the conversation of the two friends. What happened to the two friends? Why did the one friend neglect their talents? The Lord And Savior has an answer for this written in the book of Matthews…

Matthew 5:14-16 (KJV) Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

This is a teaching among many that Yahusha had taught his disciples, and the multitude of people who came to hear his sermons. The parable of the lampstand was not just about any old gift, but the gifts of the Holy Spirit that comes from The Heavenly Father. The parable of the lampstand is about the Lords set apart holy people. All of the Lords people, the disciples, are given gifts from the moment that they give themselves to Christ. The gifts of the Holy Spirit are: the gift of wisdom, knowledge, giving faith, miracles, healing, tongs, interpretation of tongs, prophecy, and teaching. These gifts are for followers of Yahusha to use for the furthering of the heavenly kingdom. After being saved we are then given the word, and taught the way of the father. Then we are sent out to bring others into the light, we are to bring people to the enlightenment of their salvation in Yahusha.

When Yahusha says “A light is not hidden under a bushel” this rings true. Our light is to shine forth and bring truth to others so that our Heavenly Father will receive all glory! When we do good things and not shrink back, and bring truth to others, this saves them and brings them into Yahusha’s salvation. So they may receive the words of eternal life.

You can’t actually put a lamp that has been lit under a bushel, it would just burn. But for us as people we will find ourselves spiritually doing just that. We will be given a beautiful gift and we will bury it, or sit on it and let it go un-used. This is what happened to the friend who sat on his gifts, and time went buy and their gift went un-used. This is a sin and a crime unto The Heavenly Father, because he gives use these gift knowing what good they will do for not only us but also for others. What gift has The Heavenly Father given you, and what have you done to put it to use for The Heavenly Kingdom.
