The Book of Genesis

“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.”

Introduction

The book of Genesis focuses on the beginning of creation and how our Heavenly Father started everything. When reading Genesis we pay close attention on how The Heavenly Father intended for creation to be, and  we really follow what the Lord is doing with his people. We break down Genesis into five sections: Adam and Eve, Noah and the ark, Abraham‘s story, Jacob and Israel, and Joseph’s dreams. These are the five sections that really describe what is going on in the book of Genesis, and reveals the beginning of Yahweh’s work with creation.

“And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed. And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.”

Adam and Eve

When Yahweh created Adam from the dust of the ground he intended for him to be made in his likeness “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness…- Genesis 1: 26″ after he did this, he put Adam into the garden of Eden to tend to the garden and keep it. he also gave him the animals to be head ship over. Soon after Eve was created for Adam by the Lord, Most High Yahweh. they were both placed in the garden of Eden to live and dwell there. They were given only one rule “not to eat from the tree of good and evil.” Unfortunately, as we all know, Adam and Eve were both tricked into eating from the tree that they were forbidden to eat from. This act of disobedience caused a fall for Adam and Eve that could only be healed by The Heavenly Father himself. Adam and Eve were both cast out out of the garden of Eden, where they had an easier life of living, and overseeing the Lord‘s creations. To being sent to where we reside now, and Losing the holy covering that Adam and Eve carried at first. This leads us to the next story of Noah and the Ark.

Noah And The Ark

During the time of Noah was a time of peak rebellion from the Lord‘s creations to the heavenly father. The rebellion was coming from not only the Lord’s human creations, but also from some angels and this also created giants upon the Earth. This is a time where human beings have created their own gods made by their own hands, and they worship them. This has caused them to forget their own one and only true Elohim, and to not look forward to their redemption with him. when the Lord looked at the Earth and saw that everything had fallen apart, he made the decision that he was going to destroy all of creation, but he found one to have favor upon, and that was Noah and his family. Noah obeyed with the Lord had instructed him to do and created what we all know as the Ark that carried him, his family, and the animals to safety. during the time that Noah was building the art, he also went out and warned people about the coming flood. But people did not listen to him in fact, they did not even believe that what he was talking about would even happen. So when the floods came and the door was shut, all those people who chose not to believe were locked out this leads us to our next topic of Abraham‘s journey.

Abraham’s Journey

When we look at Abraham we are inspired to look at the relationship between Abraham and ABBA father. The Lord had called Abraham friend because he was someone who would listen to the Lord’s every word and trust in him. Anything that he told him to do, Abraham would do with out hesitation. when Abraham was instructed by the Lord to leave his father‘s home and to go out into the wilderness, that he was going to bless him with not only with an incredible nation, but also with his own son. Although Abraham did leave and trusted the Lord in where all he was supposed to go, sometimes he doubted or wondered how something was going to come to pass. Abraham and Sarah wondered how the Lord was going to give them a son in their old age. But Abraham trusted the Lord so much that he also took his wife, Sarah, and servants out on this journey with the Lord. Even his nephew Lot went with him, but at some point they had to separate. As Abraham continued on with his journey in The Heavenly Father, he stayed true, and in the faith with the Lord, and trusted that everything the Lord have promised would come to pass. After he had Isaac, he took Isaac all the way up to the top of the mountain, where they were going to sacrifice him to the Lord, and Abraham trusted that the Lord would still fulfill his promise that Isaac would be the child that many nations would come from. Of course, we all know that the Lord did not take Isaac’s life, but instead promised that he would send his own son to take the place of his people. As time went on, Isaac grew up and he had Jacob and Esau, and this leads us to our next topic about Jacob and Israel.

Jacob and Israel

Jacob and Esau were twins, but Jacob was second born, and was born holding the heel of Esau. This gave him the name of being a sub planter, meaning that he could be somebody who could uproot another nation from their home, or take over their home nation. This is something that actually did come to pass seeing as Esau sold his birthright to Jacob, also meaning that he would lose his blessing from his father as well. Esau regretted selling his birthright and losing his blessing, but no matter how much he cried and sought after his inheritance he could not get it back because it was already gone. Jacob left home for his safety, and went to live with Laban, the brother of his mother. Jacob lived with Laban for twenty years and during that time he married two wives, and received two concubines, maid servants, and man servants. He also received goats, and ram after all of his struggle with Laban, who kept cheating him and changing his wages. After Laban and Jacob settled their differences, Jacob decided to go back home. During this entire time the most high Yahweh has been with Jacob, leading and guiding him through all of his trials and tribulations. When looking at Jacob’s story and situation, we see that when you stay faithful to the Lord and you stay walking in him and you do things The Heavenly Fathers Way, the Lord will find a way to put things back into your favor. This elevates the Lord‘s people in a way that is righteous, also he will make a table before your enemies. This leads us to our last topic about Joseph’s Dreams.

Joseph’s Dreams

Joseph dreams is a very powerful story that leads you breathless because you are seeing a young boy who was targeted by his own family and betrayed by his brothers, but the heavenly father was with him throughout his entire ordeal. Joseph when he was young was sold by his brothers to Egyptian merchants. These Egyptian merchants went to Egypt and then sold Joseph to Potiphar, who was the Pharaoh’s General. Joseph was then accused of taking advantage of a woman, but not just any woman because she was Potiphar wife. And this lead Joseph to be thrown in jail, even though he was innocent. Looking at Joseph’s life trials you would think that Joseph was under a curse or something, but this is far from the truth. The heavenly father was with Joseph through all of his trials and tribulations, it was guiding him to where he would then be used to save all of his people. when Joseph was sold to the Potiphar house, Potiphar actually elevated Joseph over his entire household, giving him dominion over everything except for his wife. When Joseph was thrown in jail, the keeper of the prison put Joseph in charge of all the other inmates, and giving them their duties of the day. So when it came time for Joseph to help pharaoh with his dreams, Joseph was able to give insight and understanding on what Pharaohs dreams meant. after Joseph helped Pharaoh he was then elevated over everyone in his entire kingdom and was only second to Pharaoh himself.

when we look at Genesis, we see that the Lord has went from creating Adam and Eve and them being made perfect in his very likeness, two people being born and becoming rebellious against him, and not knowing who their heavenly father is. To then having a set apart people for himself and guiding them and helping his people through their tough situations trials and tribulations.
